Watch out for spoilers I guess?

“This is a 30 minute very early sneak peak into a new show with Adam Koebel DM’ing and the cast (Jesse Cox, Dodger, Strippin, Pokket) talking about what kind of universe they want to play in.”

Listening to this, it sounds awesome, it reminds a bit of the Sci-Fi show Farscape. And Dodger is playing Rigel. Can’t wait.

I… don’t know what is consider spoilers.

But I can state for a fact if you haven’t watched Firefly you’re doing nerd wrong.

While I understand why they’re using Fate, I’m wondering if Adam would have used the Scum & Villainy hack for Blades if it was finished? I feel like it hits all the touchstones pretty square on the head?

You want doing nerd “wrong”? I’ve never seen star wars bar a new hope, never watched any of the old star trek TV shows, only saw bits of buffy, haven’t seen or read harry Potter (I watched one of the films on a plane, idk which), and don’t really like lotr.

I think I got all the big ones I’ve missed, I might have missed something.

(in general I agree with Jabba, we should be more inclusive than that, but then maybe that is coloured by my list above :itmejplol:

Edit to actually say something on topic, really looking forwards to this show, sounds like it’s going to be a good one. I love jesse and dodger messing with each other, so lots of that please!

Calling people out for quantifying “nerd”-ness is, in fact, doing nerd wrong.

Lets stay on the topic of the new show please

It seems they just want the flexibility for their characters to do and be anything within fictional positioning context. While Blades certainly has plenty of that flexibility for mind theater, it is a focused experience about thugs* doing odd jobs.

*Well, mostly thugs.

I am super excited!
I really hope to see some space wizards with super weird powers!

I immediately started thinking about Master of Orions ailen species, but then I hope the crew (and I KNOW they will) gets more crazy than “This is the cat people, and this is the bear people”

Scum and Villainy is too Star Wars and too Swan Song for me. I want bigger, brighter and stranger than it can offer.

I would pay good money to see Strippin get pregnant with Jesse’s baby, but Dodger carry it to term because of wacky alien technology while Pokket… is Pokket. I honestly don’t know if she’d be Chiana, Stark, or Khar D’argo. Probably some weird mixture of the three.

But I’d pay money for that. In addition to my patreon subscription.

So basically the Farscape opener where Crichton keeps saying how he wants to both show and protect earth from the “wonders that [he’s] seen”. But weirder, brighter, and possibly more awesome.

It’s kinda curious to hear a pitch like ‘more like Guardians than Star Wars’ considering I found the GoG film to be painfully Star Wars-y in many aspects, just with fewer British accents.

Still, everything mentioned in this sounds good and fun - we have a more top-down setting in Courts and Blades, so some bottom-up sci-fi madness fits in quite nicely.

You kidding? That was the best ending ever!?Then they ruined it by having Crichton suck everyone into a blackhole. But Rigel did get to have his baby so it wasn’t that bad.

Hmm, FAE should be good for this group, they can go wild and are only limited by fictional boundaries.

And Adam’s probably going to relish not having page numbers thrown at him by GM chat for once.

Still, with Jesse and Dodger not fighting rules restrains I hope it won’t get too silly for me.

Drat, was hoping I had made a good case for how good Myriad Song could be for a game like this. I guess it’s kinda funny that when I describe Cardinal system, I usually liken it to FATE. Either way, will look forward to watching the new show!

Also, Heavy Metal is a terrible movie?! You are wrong SIR!

I think the idea is that Star Wars is more of a hopeful tale of the struggle against tyranny, legacy, philosophical “laws” of being (Jedi/Sith), and evil, whereas GotG is more about a ragtag bunch of puckish rogues/misfits/rejects that go on incidental adventures within a hugely diverse universe that isn’t utterly ruled by the struggle of two massive and diametrically opposed forces.

Jesse and Dodger actually seem tame to me, going by West Marches, Mirrorshades, and the Star Wars shows. It’s just that when everyone else goes crazy, they become the conductors and start rocking out to Ozzy Osborne.

Ah, sounds like that’s just me only knowing GotG from the movie… which was about lovable, wise-cracking group of goodies saving the galaxy from a monolithic, fascist force of darkness.

But it’s fine, I’ll just copy and paste Red Dwarf for GotG in my head.

Well, the movie wasn’t entirely wrong. It’s just that the adventures weren’t always that big. Like every comic, there are the huge, awesome fights which get made into movies. But then you also get your smaller “What are we doing tonight Brain? Same thing we do every night Pinky.” small time jaunts that get turned into tv series.
