What is your most returned to movie?

What movies do you find yourself watching over and over again across the years?

• 12 ANGRY MEN - I love this movie so much, the small cast of great actors, the simplicity of the story, while they are caricatures you know people like them in your life. I do think it could have been edited a bit better, but that is just a minor complaint
• Prohibition - A documentary by Ken Burns, this could be all the documentaries of Ken Burns, I am addicted to watching the lengths people went to over the course of a 100 years to ban Alcohol, and then the effects of the ban for 13 years before it repeal.
• STAR WARS IV-VI, LORD OF THE RINGS - these are just a yearly requirement :itmejp10:

Brick and Jodorowsky’s Dune are probably the two movies that I’ve watched the most. Brick taking the number one spot with seven times watched so far.

Actually, i think The Fifth Element takes this spot for me. I’ve seen it so many times and still love the characters, writing and world building! I know, not the most sophisticated choice, but i love it!

Modern film-noir with the setting of a high school  can’t get better than that! Can’t wait to see what Rian Johnson does for Star Wars VIII.

A guilty pleasure of mine is The Last Dragon.

Also as a kid I must have watched the old 80’s Transformers a thousand times.

Recently Guardians of the Galaxy is a go to feel good movie for me.

Reading the Amazon reviews of Jodorowsky’s Dune, some people really don’t like this film and Jodorowsky, having not watched it is this a case of you either love it or hate it and nothing inbetween?

Jurassic Park. I can’t go two years without watching it again at least once, which is special for me cause i rarely ever watch a movie (on my own) more than once. The effects still hold up to this day IMO, and I can’t find much to fault with the storytelling, themes, and pacing. Also, I just fucking love dinosaurs.

I return to a lot of movies since I do tend to watch a lot and also a lot of TV-shows, so if I hit few days without anything new I turn back to old movies like:

  1. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
  2. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
  3. Lucky Number Slevin
  4. Reservoir Dogs
  5. Snatch
  6. Smokin’ Aces
  7. Fight Club
  8. Pulp Fiction

You can see where the list is going anyway…

Other movies I tend to re-watch once a year or so are Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy and so on.

I’m not only a film lover but I’m a filmmaker (I’ve made two shorts and written several short film scripts) I just love his approach to film making and the stories that he tells around this film are amazing to me. So yeah I would say you need to be in a certain space in your head when watching him or this.

I think I’ve seen all of the old Star Wars movies more than 60 times each. There was a time when I was a teen when I would come home from school and the first thing I did was watch Star Wars IV or V or VI on VHS. I knew more about the Star Wars setting and lore and history than about actual history. Good times.

Moon is a more recent example of a movie that I’ve seen an unreasonable amount of times. Something about it gets me. 10/10 movie (one of only two 10’s I ever gave on IMDb, ha!).

Also, The Social Network is a movie I can watch any time. Especially the first half that takes place in Cambridge. It might be the look of the film and the coziness of the sets, I don’t know.

The Charlie Brown Halloween and Christmas specials

Also I still get creeped out by the Garfield Halloween special no matter how many times I watch it.

(Yes I consider these movies :stuck_out_tongue: )

The one I go back to the most is probably Love Exposure. I’ve probably annoyed most of the people I know trying to get them to watch it.

Bro, this move is amazing but it’s a move I didn’t want to revisit, not because it’s bad but due to the subject matter.
