Okay, thanks that is actually enough information right now, because it will probably get figured out later on Cheers
do the new characters come in same level or one level lower?
we’ll start them out at level 1 in this case.
Dunno about Riley, but maybe Jaycen was; he was in a big accident as a kid right? All that scarring and stuff? Maybe he didn’t actually survive the accident, maybe his parents had a synth made of him how he would have been had he survived and made up memories of his for the synth pre-accident. I know Jaycen has a sister but she likely wouldn’t know what happened to her brother, because her parents would have likely kept stuff from her when they were kids so all she would have known was that Jaycen got into a bad accident, but it’s ok he survived.
Let me begin with a moment of silence for Jaycen and Riley. Also, given the price of the ransom, does this mean that Booker is literally a “credit” to House Crux?
@AdamKoebel No to peek too much behind the GM veil but considering the first mission was only one episode and a little bit, how long did you anticipate the Hong Lu mission to be and did you anticipate the various side-plots and complications that the players got themselves into?
Lastly, just throwing this wild pitch out there. Given that Booker is going to be the one returning character in the next few sessions, might it be a good idea to have the sessions be based around Booker’s journey from Hong Lu back onto the ship/main group? It could allow for a slightly different look at the universe of Far Verona.
Jaycen went out on a high note, like a rocket blasting into the sky.
Thank you for visiting Hong Lu. I hope you will come again soon.

Given how the mission went, i’m curious how it will play out with Nomi and Booker. If the blame is shifted to him but then his family buy him back, will he be welcome on the ship? An embarrassment? If he was on the bad missions before as punishment for his attitude hes in it now for sure!
Captain/Richter seemed to like Nomi so she’ll probably be fine.
Also didnt they technically retrieve the missing Noble, or… bits of him?
It will be interesting to see that when Anne gets back to continue plat as Nomi. Booker is likely getting demoted and will likely be seen as even more of a black sheep than he already was.
They did technically retrieve the Pyxis’ DNA if anyone inspected the engine fire around the makeshift ‘brig’, but the mission counts as accomplished anyway because they were told to find out what happened to him, the information that he was killed is enough to satisfy what would have been his Vela mother-in-law.
With the synth question coming up in this thread it made me really hope at least one player asked Adam to decide whether they were one or not and for him not to tell them. Really play a synth that doesn’t know they are one.
I think John Harper said you should play a character in a tabletop rpg as if you were driving a stolen car. Mark did that with Jaycen, and it was awesome.
Here’s a question that really got me thinking. Adam, for every npc and actual pc that are synths in your campaign, do you secretly create the secret password phrase thingy that puts them into robotic servitude moment just in case it gets triggered? For Limmar Riley, did you have her password tuck away just in case something on random chance activates it?
Just saying Rammil Yelir is not the worst Vela name
Limmar Riley Jr, taking on mama’s debt.
A.C.R.E. Would allow…Expect this. Debt cannot go unpaid. But of course we would give said inheritor of debt a great deal on new products to help them acquire enough revenue to keep up with payments!
