Hi, so first off I totally respect Adam’s ruling on this as a dungeon master, and please don’t crucify me for bringing it back up from chat, but I do still have some thoughts on the concentration save. I mostly just want to understand his reasoning for rolling a 1 autofailing that save.

I think of concentration saves more like an opposed roll, where it’s half damage vs. Con save. If something is doing so little damage that it’s hitting the floor of 10, and my Con score is enough to pass even if I roll a 1, then an auto-pass seems fine to me in the context of an opposed roll. Adam’s argument was there needs to be a way to fail the save, but the way you do that is hitting hard enough to make the save higher.

Great show! Sorry to be the rules nerd, but I find it interesting and Adam has a lot of knowledge about this stuff!

That’s essentially the solution to “auto saves” as far as concentration goes. Natural 20’s will always feel good on a save… but there’s no “bonus” for getting a natural 20 on a concentration saving throw - it’s the same as any other number resulting in a success. I’m not saying the concentration saves are perfect - they’re probably the easiest DC to make for any spellcasting class, regardless of role or main casting state. Could increase the floor DC to 15, DC = Damage-10 (instead of half)… pretty much anything could work.

Honestly, you guys should just make a document of what mechanical homebrew rules you guys are using instead of getting salty at people in chat. You guys still mess up/forget rules, and if someone says “I don’t think that’s how it works” and then “I just checked the sections of the book, I was right”, that seems to be the same threshold of “Oh, thanks for picking up on that” or “IT’S THE DM’S DECISION STOP BACKSEATING!”

1any chance of the bell need a living sacrifice to activaye maybe a gnome to get max rilled up?

2 what lv would max be able to use true polymorph / permanent polymorph and how OP would it be just wondering?

3 are demons the same as mara and if the bell has the power to control them could the party theoriticly use it to order all demons/mara to kill themselves

4 is the bell now fused with kalimat / would he have to be killed to get it now or would kalimat be able to will fully remove it

Given that Kali’s nature is sound-based. I’m super interested to see what will happen if Kali’s uses a bell-infused dragon breath? Would this be more of going to an “improved Bell” similar to how Fei’s Apology had multiple stages?

Except it’s not linked on these forums, not a link on JP’s channel page, and as far as I can tell, not a bot command, so where would a normal joe-schmoe find this, and how did you grab this?. Not only that, but clearly it’s an old document as 1. It’s still has a “To Do” list and 2. Most of those “To Dos” have either already been in the game, or some things outside of that changed changed (Like “no warlocks”).

So instead of proudly saying “We have this!” ask “Why would someone who regularly watches not know of this?” and go from there.
