Wait 2 weeks, oh noww :frowning:

How else do you get a soul out of a person? I’m sorry you’re bummed about it, but they knew this was a dangerous deal.

Really hoping that next time, either Berg pops back up with 1 hp cos of his racial ability or that Ramus runs in and brings Berg back as he has done so many times before when Berg has fallen in battle or against Utrix’s barriers.

The contract specified that it was the passenger. If he is Illneval, that is the soul proper.

Damn, Lawyered!

I feel like this is great story telling. Max got a ton of warning and it’ll be interesting to hear in the post show if he was aware of the danger as a player. I’m really looking forward to learn if snek lady got what she wanted out of the deal and what the fallout will be!

Tbf A soul is also another sort of passenger :itmejpgmlol:

the Devil doesn’t care about sacrifice, though.

Hmmm.

Well if Berg is actually dead then that means the universe is fucked… unless that concoction he drank successfully extracted Tulpa from Berg’s soul before it reaches the Fountain.

In any case, resurrection is an option.

Adam specifically called it “entity” instead of Passenger both on the contract and every time it came out of Petal’s mouth (she also called it a vague “something” which has the same effect). I was just saying that the wording made me suspicious.

It does make sense. It is attached to his soul, easiest way to bring get it to the gods is to kill the one who’s soul that it is attached to.

It wasn’t really a choice though, or the fact that he was aware of the danger or not. He had to choose this to progress the campaign, or all 4 of them die there.

at least gassy gets to play a character with good stats now , at least i hope so

and with sstarting lvl 7 there are many good choices which would make an interesting character

Says who? They could have said no and walked out.

I don’t agree, the players assumed they would be killed. No NPC ever made that threat though

I meant sacrifice as in Tulpa was a sacrifice for Berg as well as a bargaining chip. That everyone would have to “sacrifice” or barter something valuable for further passage.

Ah, yeah - really different concepts.

Tulpa isn’t a soul though. He is a thought form. I understand that it was a dangerous deal, I just hate that the party was super careful, weighed the options, made a contract, altered the contract… It felt as if they had done everything right and it still bit them. And yes, I understand soft moves, but Berg knew he was making a sacrifice with the contract to begin with. I just don’t like “you die” mechanically when it isn’t moldvay. And don’t get me wrong, I still liked the episode, I just thought that the instant death was over-the-top. I would probably be less frustrated if it weren’t for the extra week off.
