[POSSIBLE SPOILERS] Let's Talk About Doctor Strange

So, Doctor Strange just came out here tonight, and I figured this would be a good place to talk about it. I know it’s not out yet everywhere, but once it does come out y’all are welcome to join the conversation, of course.

Personally I would say it’s a 9/10. This is from someone who considers Guardians of the Galaxy to be the only 10/10 in the MCU, so take that as you may.

Wong is probably my favorite character.

Thoughts? Comments? Bargains?

I have not watched it yet but it does start with a 2 tenths deduction for casting

Been out here in UK for near a week now and not that many people have ran to watch it, mostly people do not know what the good old Doctor is all about and why he is Strange haha.

Puns aside, I enjoyed the film thought it was one of the better MCU films out to date, not a 9/10 worthy to me but I don’t like to rate things on a number scale. It did leave me wanting more of the Dr Strange universe, but also thought they could have done better in some areas, might just be me and my constant movie going self wanting it all. It was like a slow run up to the here we go part, and then left us wanted more of that here we go give us all the pay off, I feel like we will get that in other films but I wanted it in this one personally.

Overall it was a damn good film, and one of the more emotional ones with a good message for kids and adults, there is no other power, only the power you decide you have yourself.

P.S. The In Credits and After Credits scenes were quite good indeed, Thor: Ragnarok is going to be something else, probably the best Thor film since the original.

Also probably one of the better films to utilise 3D with the magic and ludicrous things going on.

Saw the movie on Wednesday and loooooooved it! Benedict Cumberbatch was amazing as Dr. Strange and the visuals were just incredible. 3D made this beautiful trippy ride even better.

The movie isn’t perfect of course. I feel like the villain was once again the weakest part of the movie (seems to have become a thing in Marvel movies) although I do think the villain was better than some we’ve had before.

Definitely one of the better Marvel films and Dr. Strange slides right into 2nd place when it comes to my favorite MCU characters (Ant-Man being the first :stuck_out_tongue: ) I’d give it 9/10.

Saw it last night, you’re spot on. Great movie, villain was meh…just there for plot reasons. I hope no one has major seizure issues, or it really will blow your mind.

Probably the most visually-impressive film I can recall ever watching. Excellent use of computer effects. Excited for where this could take us now that the “magic door” is really open and we’ve been introduced to the multiverse concept.

Also, getting my hopes up for the X-Men entering the fold post-Infinity War. There was a lot of talk about how abusing those powers could basically change… well, everything.

Just saw it and loved it!

Also, i need to figure out how to craft the cape as an item for my pathfinder character

Idea for 5e:

Fly at will at standard move speed (or for less OP version, “cast Fly” on self 3x per day, recovered after long rest.).
Never take falling damage.
+2 to AC (it helps you dodge, and it’s basically a legendary artifiact - nerf to +1 AC if too strong).
Advantage on DEX saves.
Throw at a medium or smaller target within 15 feet. Target must succeed a DC15 DEX (or STR?) save (repeat at the start of each round). If fail, the target creature is considered grappled and blind.
Oh, and uh… advantage on… some kind of knowledge (Arcana?) or Perception check? Cause it’s aware of things? (I think you’d have to argue for fictional positioning on this one, like how some creatures get advantage on Perception with smell specifically.) Alternatively, some form of detect magic?

that’s going to be expensive… and awesome!

Spoiler:
Also, isn’t there a way to make an item Sentient too? I love the cape so much! He’s like Carpet from Aladdin !
I added an edit because of its… intelligence.

That’s awesome. Seriously though, there were so many cool Magic Items that could be used in a Campaign. We were trying to figure out what the rules on the Boots of Jumping would be too

I think there’s already some kind of Boots of Jumping in the DMG for 5e or something. I’m not familiar with the spell, but it basically casts “Jump”.
