Parody Tribute 2: We Didn't Build the Tower

Encouraged by the feedback on my first effort, I’ve been working on something more ambitious to celebrate 50 episodes. I now have more appreciation for audio engineers. Lyrics:

The first party, Wind Zephyra, dwarf Baern, fire Velimir
A hero trio, magistrates, some taxes are too late
Dead elephant, nasty omen, village wiped out, undead roamin’
Start the combat, lost the combat, preview of their fate

Sibling kids, Thuy Samnong, Sự Phồn Thịnh, said that wrong
King, Queen, and Knight all sigh, for the Page about to die,
Kobold raiders, must go find, sadly Thuy is left behind
Necromancer, shadow dancer, bid our heroes goodbye

It was always loomin’ with its flames consumin’

It’s forever fallin’, in its shadow crawlin’

Janus, Ramus, Gideon, Wester and we’re back again
Quartet searchin’, tomb besmirchin’, 'member to look up
Big bugs, foreign thugs, heads pop off and Janus shrugs
But Wester falls, his neck’s then all shook up
Kukrit, Berg arrives, he’s not smart but he survives
Xulin Valley, Móng Vuốt, moguai, say what
Janus’s pace is off, hope another neck pays off
Wiz Wazaz, has pizazz, kobolds scorch his face off

Azure Vortex, orb unsure, Little Snidgey Torbisher,
Bullywugs, toady tongue, no consent so it’s no fun
Constructs and strange golden thing, danger sense and puking
Stone King, underground, can the forest gnomes be found
Forest spirits, vision quest, kenku battle, elder’s test
Mara plots, oh no, say that with your voice low
Long trek, gnome empire, situation getting dire
Fighting fighting, so long, Gideon and Ramus gone

Three more come, tianshi, Bái Yá Monastery
Volnach, Azriel, don’t confuse with Raziel
judging bandits, blood raven, after the gnome king again
Demons, press on, meet Berg and Persnidgetron
Gnome mercy, stone king slain, at the price of so much pain
Two angels gone, Azure sawn, sorry Berg you must go on

Black bird Gale, Grasping Hands, Nak’Ana Ino she has plans
Elf crystal, very odd, lost Chuckles, snake god

Now Berg’s working with Hazan, Enoch Ramus dark dawn
House of Falcon, Brass City, vampire lord has no pity
Živa changed, and estranged, souls sucked, death deranged
How does this fact make you feel, the Arcana are not real
Heavy existential lore, I can’t take it anymore

We did build the Tower

Thank you all for your kind words, this one strained my vocal and technological capacities. If anyone wonders about the last verse lines, @AdamKoebel discussed the nature of the Arcana in his recent MicroRPG streams:

So let me just be super clear about how the Court of Swords is about priests and clerics. They are wrong. They’re wrong, and they’re limited, and they’re honestly kind of misguided. The Arcana are fake, they don’t exist, the gods don’t have consciousness, they don’t care … the entire arc of enlightenment was created by Heaven and probably by some powerful humans to manipulate human behavior to serve Heaven and the Fountain. That’s it. They’re fake … they’re all fake, which is why the Mara are so powerful, because the Mara are real. The Mara will listen to you, the Mara will help if you need help. The gods – it’s a crap shoot; if you’re a priest, what you’re doing is your belief is forming the Fountain into funneled miracles. So priests and scholars are just potential sorcerers who are not very good at their job.

I latched onto this revelation enough to hinge a chorus change on it, so I decided it was worth some explanation. Cheers!

Oh my, thank you all! It’s a bit embarrassing how nice unexpected compliments can be! Thus far this year I’ve been pouring most of my creative energy into GMing a campaign, plus I got a bit disheartened after a claimbot killed my Highwaymen parody (plus I wasn’t sure where to go from Disneyland), but I do have some more ideas percolating and it helps to know people like to hear them, cheers!
